The Cineteca of Bologna is one of the world’s most renowned film restoration centers, home of the Charlie Chaplin and Pier Paolo Pasolini archives. Each summer, it hosts Il Cinema Ritrovato, an acclaimed film festival featuring restored masterpieces and early silent cinema that has been described as “pure heaven for cinéphiles.” The 36th edition will take place from Saturday, June 25th to Sunday, July 3, 2022.
Thanks to an ongoing collaboration with the Cineteca, the Italian Studies Department at Brown University can share a selection of these wonderful films with the Providence community each year. The ninth edition of "Il Cinema Ritrovato on Tour" (Rediscovered Cinema on Tour) will take place from March 10 to March 12, 2022 at the Granoff Center for the Arts.
Made possible by The Elana Horwich Italian Arts and Culture Fund, and thanks to the collaboration of Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, Organization Friends of the Cineteca di Bologna, BAI (Brown Arts Initiative), the Cogut Institute for the Humanities, Janus Films. Special thanks to Gian Luca Farinelli, Carmen Accaputo, Guy Borlée, Timothy Bewes, Pablo a Marca, and Bailey Gillian.
